Welcome To Mendon Child Care Center

Program

New York State has licensed Mendon Child Care Center since 1999. The center offers developmentally appropriate programs for children 6 weeks to 8 years of age.  A preschool curriculum is incorporated into the morning routine.

Our Program’s Philosophy

Mendon Child Care Center is designed to provide opportunities for social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. The children participate daily in a variety of age-appropriate activities involving music, art, creative play, science, math, language and reading, and outdoor play. We view every activity that your child engages in as opportunities to teach. Our goal for each child is to learn self-reliance, independence, self-esteem, as well as respect for others in a secure and nurturing environment.

Our Curriculum

At Mendon Child Care Center, a preschool curriculum is followed within our daycare program. It is based on the philosophy that PLAY is the work of young children, and that they learn best through direct experiences. We believe that the children learn through hands-on activities that address the needs of the whole child. The center’s curriculum is based on learning themes for each month:

Parent Communication

One of the keys to ensuring the best experience possible for you and your child is great communication. The center has many ways to keep you updated on what your child does while they are here.

We provide parents with a “Daily Sheet” which tells you what your child did that day. When your child’s caregiver fills out the daily sheets, he/she is constantly reviewing your child’s participation in the days various activities. The Classroom bulletin board outside your child’s classroom is the place to find the monthly activity calendar, parent newsletters, lunch menu and other important information. Each child has a mailbox folder for items to go home.

There are plenty of opportunities to connect face-to-face with teachers and the Director at pick-up and drop-off time. If that is not convenient for you, we are always available for an extra conference or meeting should the need arise.

Staff Qualification

The quality of the staff is an important element in the success of the program. The center strives to maintain high quality staff by carefully selecting candidates based on their educational background, early childhood training and teaching experience. All the lead teachers are Child Care Associates (CDA). Being a Child Care Associate means they met national standards and have demonstrated their skill in working with young children, and their families, by successfully completing the CDA assessment process.

All staff members are required to submit a state clearance check for child abuse and maltreatment. The Office of Children and Family Services also require fingerprinting for criminal activity.
